Long, narrow balconies can be tricky to furnish, but with minimal organisation, you can save yourself an impossible game of Tetris.
Here are the three keys to easy balcony design so all that will be left for you to do is sit back and enjoy the good weather from the comfort of your home.
Chill Out Zone
Outdoor armchairs add instant comfort and turn a balcony into a haven of tranquillity, ideal for luxuriating with a good book, sunbathing, or enjoying a summer drink with a friend. Try designing it with an armchair with a matching sofa and a coffee table in the middle. Make things even cosier and add a summery touch with a cool outdoor rug.
Time to eat
Transform your balcony into a mini al fresco dining paradise. All you’ll need is a small table such as the Yukari and two Yanet chairs to match. These are highly versatile pieces of furniture with a simple design for a light, uncluttered feel.
This wood is extremely damp-resistant so it’s suitable for outdoor use, and will bring a fresh, summery look. It’s already resistant and durable, so give it a little TLC and you can make it last even longer.
Add in some textiles such as cushions, tablecloths, and a couple of plants, and voilà!
A balcony as a oasis of calm
Small balconies have endless relaxation possibilities. Placing an armchair at one end andfilling the rest with plantswill provide a sense of lushness and fill the space with colour. Creating a jungle effect on your balcony makes a lot of sense in urban settings where the surroundings may lack greenery.
Complete the overall effect with a round outdoor rug and a basket made from natural materials, which you can use to store a thin blanket for cool spring nights or even as a plant pot holder. What about adding a pouffe that doubles up as a comfy footrest or an extra place to sit? You never know when one extra person might turn up ;)
