We all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep, so it’s essential to create a relaxing bedroom where you feel more ‘you’ than anywhere else. If you’re the kind of decorator who likes to go a step further, here’s your guide to curating a modern bedroom.

First of all, decide on your bedroom layout

Forget the conventional wisdom and make your own rules. Before getting stuck in, think about the amount of space you have and its shape. Define the layout you want the different items in your bedroom to have. Drawing a plan with all their measurements is a huge help when it comes to deciding where it all should go.

Know where you’re going to put your bed? In this post we share the keys to finding the right spot for it, following the principles of Feng Shui to ensure optimum flow of positive energy.

Create and maintain a sense of light and space

Less is more is the best definition of modern decoration. Choose the must-have items for your room based on their function – chests of drawers are essential for storing your things and saving space, and tidy bedroom is a comfortable one.

As far as possible, it’s important to match your sleep schedule with daylight hours. That’s why we recommend choosing curtains in soft colours or translucent fabrics for your windows. And for night, add various sources of light with a ceiling light for general lighting and table lamps or wall sconces for focal light.

Now it’s time to furnish your bedroom

If you’ve got enough space, feel free to furnish your room with whatever you need to get comfortable. If you share a room with a partner, for example, choose the two Taiana chests of drawers, with different heights to create a sense of movement. And why not turn one area into your dressing room? With a free-standing mirror and a hanging rail, you’re ready to create your head-to-toe look.

And if your bedroom is less than generously-sized, we’ve got you covered, too! Make the most of your walls by adding hooks and shelves. If you don’t have space for a headboard, wallpaper is a great alternative. Oh, and don’t forget to add a nice mirror to reflect the light and create a sense of depth.
