Metal

These are shades such as white, off-white and metallic tones and are ideal for switching off. They’ll help you find peace and are perfect when you just need to connect with yourself. Metal tones give off tranquillity and freshness and help to boost concentration, making them perfect colours for the study or office.

Tip: Play around with the colours of your bedding. Use warm tones and perhaps a darker accent in the furniture.

Wood

Mainly characterised by greenish tones. According to Feng Shui, green is the colour of stability, optimism and fertility. It helps us to find peace of mind, promotes rest and is ideal for fighting fatigue, insomnia and headaches. If you need to improve your sleep routine and connect with nature, this is the colour for you.

Water

The colours that belong to this element are black and blues. Use them where you need movement and want things to flow better – they’re the ideal colours to make you feel calm and relaxed. Avoid electric or vivid blues as the effect can be overwhelming and not very relaxing. Try to choose light blues or pastels and combine them with textiles in other shades. Excessive light blue colour can bring on laziness. That’s why it’s better to create a certain contrast with textiles and avoid using the same tone throughout. With black, it’s best to only paint one wall – too much can produce a negative effect.

Through the practice of Feng Shui, the layout of your furniture and the colours that we use in our decoration, we can improve our quality of life, our mood and our relationship with others. It can even relieve stress and help us sleep.
