Leather and bonded leather

The difference between leather and bonded leather

Leather and bonded leather vary in terms of their origin and treatment.

Leather is a material of animal origin that, after tanning, retains its texture, distinctive softness and slight irregularities that are typical of the material. At Kave Home, we work with high-quality leathers, such as anilines and semi-anilines, which stand out for their comfort, elegance and unique character.

Bonded leather, on the other hand, is made from a blend of 96% recycled leather fibres and 4% latex, selected for its resistance and durability. This material uses recovered leather fibres and combines them with latex to offer a more compact and firm structure that adapts to the body, maintaining high resistance to abrasion and fire.

100% leather

Main characteristics

We work with natural leathers selected for their quality, feel and durability. Each type of leather reflects the material’s authenticity, developing slight variations on the surface that enhance its character and beauty over time.

Rima leather

This stands out for its extra-soft feel and suppleness, which adapts easily to different shapes. Its natural grain and stained-effect finish, known as “nuvolatura”, give it a distinctive, rustic look. This high-quality aniline material has neutral tones and a comfortable feel that adds elegance and warmth to any piece.

Verso leather

Verso is a cowhide that stands out for its waxy feel and great softness. Its flexibility provides comfort and an enveloping sensation, ideal for highly comfortable upholstery.

How does it evolve?

Its surface can change slightly over time, which enhances its genuine character. Use and exposure to light generate a unique patina that embellishes the material and adds personality without sacrificing softness or flexibility.

How to take care of it

To preserve its beauty and texture, this type of leather requires simple maintenance. We recommend cleaning the leather with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding the use of aggressive products or chemicals. Keeping it away from direct sources of heat and bright sunlight will help to preserve its natural colour. If necessary, apply specific natural products for aniline leather.

Production and certifications

This leather is produced in plants powered by renewable energies, with water recycling systems. The tanning process uses natural dyes free from PFCs, which ensures that the process is sustainable.

Our supplier is certified by the Sustainable Leather Foundation and the Leather Working Group, with the LWG Gold rating, which promotes sustainable practices in responsible leather production.

Bonded leather

Main characteristics

Bonded leather is made from 96% recycled leather fibres and 4% latex, carefully selected for their high quality and resistance. This material combines durability and comfort, offering a firm seat that adapts to the ergonomics of the body. It also stands out for its excellent resistance to abrasion and fire, ensuring optimal performance for daily use.

How does it evolve?

Thanks to its composition and compact structure, bonded leather maintains its appearance and firmness over time. With use, it progressively adapts to the body’s contours without losing its resistance, preserving its uniform aesthetic and pleasant feel.

How to take care of it

To preserve its properties, we recommend cleaning the material with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding aggressive chemicals or solvents. Keeping it away from direct sources of heat and bright sunlight will help to preserve its colour and texture.

Production and certifications

Our bonded leather supplier is certified by the Global Recycled Standard, ensuring lower use of resources and virgin material, and by the Leather Working Group, with LWG gold rating, which promotes sustainable practices in responsible leather production.
