Concept
Soft Body IV - Veil is part of the Inner Geographies series, a collection that explores the relationship between body, surface and time through textiles and cement. In this suspended piece, the fabric is organised in soft, open bands, with subtle transitions and a slowly dissolving rhythm. The free drape at the bottom accentuates its veiled character, evoking a sense of ephemeral presence. The work breathes in dialogue with the space, from fragility and restraint, and proposes an interpretation based on pausing, lightness and intimacy.

Virginia Payo Azabal is a textile artist and graphic designer, born in Madrid and based in southern Spain. Her practice lies between art, design and craftsmanship, with an experimental approach focused on the behaviour of materials. She works with natural fibres and manual techniques such as the low-warp loom, which she combines with mineral elements such as pigmented cement, exploring the balance between the organic and the structural. Her work is built through rhythm, repetition and transformation, with a strong presence of colour and texture as a visual language.
