Kenjiro starts with close observation of the immediate surroundings to construct contained scenes where figure and background share the same importance. His works seek to capture the ephemeral and play with what is visible and what is hidden. The pictorial surface acts as an active field: forms are reduced to chromatic masses that find tension in the relationship between planes, contours and pauses. Colour holds a central place in his work, with a contained and very sensitive palette that organises the image as much as the form. He paints from memory and synthesis, creating recognisable yet emotive and timeless scenes, inviting contemplation and pause.
