Concept
The series "Still Somehow" emerges from a reflection on time and its forward movement: it advances without asking permission, inevitable, sometimes silent, sometimes abrupt. The artworks show how memories settle in the body and constitute us: tenderness and a slight sting, nostalgia that transmits expressions and sensations like blurred fragments. A chord, a smell or an instant is enough to bring us back; the series celebrates the bittersweet weight of remembering.

Rita Paupério's creative process is intuitive and physical, inspired by observation of the environment and characterised by her use of diluted pigments on raw cotton canvas. She explores the balance between control and improvisation, integrating writing and conceptual reflection into her practice.
